Everything We Did in 2024

Last year, at the beginning of January, I published this post which gave a brief overview of all the projects we worked on throughout the year and now, it’s time for the 2024 edition.

January (Read full update)

In January, we made strides in the old upstairs bathroom, taking it back to the studwork and transforming it into a home office for David and I.

We also replaced our boiler as it stopped working this month!

February / March (Read full update)

These two months were quiet, hence the combined monthly update, but February and March saw the office finished (and repainted … long story!) and the installation of a new garden fence.

April (Read full update)

In April, we started on the third bedroom/Arthur’s playroom by knocking out the wall and cleaning out the old insulation between the joists.

May (Read full update)

In May, we made good progress in the garden, including edging the grass, installing gravel boards for hedge borders, and painting the new fence. We also installed skylights in the final bedroom, marking a significant milestone for the house.

June (Read full update)

In June, we progressed with the final bedroom upstairs, adding insulation and plasterboard to the walls. We also commissioned a structural surveyor to calculate the support we’d need to knock out the wall between the kitchen and dining room.

July (Read full update)

In July, the bedroom was plastered, painted and panelling was added to the back wall. We also fit the radiator, added the plug sockets and light switch and fitted the door stop. The only thing left was to sort the carpet, which we ordered this month too.

August (Read full update)

In August, the carpet was fitted and Arthur’s playroom was complete! I love how this room turned out. We also, this month, continued with, and finished, the border/mini retaining wall on the top part of the garden.

September and October (Read full update)

In September, the only thing we started was prepping the soil in the garden ready for hedges to be planted. They arrived in early October, and we spent a few days planting them in the border around the garden. In October, the building work started in the kitchen and dining room too which was messy, but exciting!

November (Read full update)

The building work continued into November with the plastering of the hallway completed this month. Scaffolding had to be put up to reach it and for a good few days going up and down the stairs was a nightmare! It now looks a trillion times better but I was so glad when the scaffolding was gone!

December (Read full update)

In December, we started painting the hallway and installed a new ceiling rose. We also added some privacy screening over the porch doors which I’m so glad we ended up doing.

And that is 2024 in a nutshell! A busy and exciting year – I can’t wait to see what we achieve in 2025.

Until next time!
