March and April were all about the hallway. It’s one of those spaces you walk through a hundred times a day, so we really wanted to get it right – and after a couple of months of steady progress, it finally feels like it’s coming together.
We started by installing new coving. It really adds a nice finish and ties everything together.

Next up were the skirting boards and architraves. We replaced everything to match in with the rest of the house.

Then came the stairs. I did toy with the idea of painting them the same teal as the porch doors (and I still think that would’ve looked great!), but after we applied the white undercoat, we decided to keep things simple and go with a white eggshell finish. It makes the space feel bigger – always a win.
It’s been a couple of months of small-but-important jobs, and while none of it was particularly dramatic, it’s made a huge difference. The hallway is just about finished, it’s just some final touching up here and there and choosing a carpet for the stairs!
