It’s been a busy start to the year what with Arthur’s 2nd birthday, new shutters and lots of work on the upstairs landing.
We celebrated Arthur’s birthday right at the beginning of the month, hosting a construction themed birthday for him. He loves diggers and was so excited by the decorations.
On his birthday Arthur started feeling unwell and it wasn’t long until David and I caught the bug too. We were all ill for a good week or so with cold/flu!
When we were feeling a bit better, David really pushed on with the landing, adding the remaining architrave to the doors, the skirting boards and putting the wall lights up.

Meanwhile I got to work on applying Klingstrip to the newel posts and handrail. We had tried to use the heatgun on this in the past but it was so fiddly and time consuming we decided to use Klingstrip here instead. It’s messy when cleaning it off but it did a good job in removing years of gloss paint.

Finally, we also had some shutters installed in the last few rooms upstairs. They make the rooms look so different despite the fact they’re a small change.
And that’s all for January… until next time!
