This year, one of our big plans is to do our upstairs bathroom.
In the ‘our plans for the year ahead’ post (available to read here), I detailed how this would include sorting out and installing new drainage as we’re moving the bathroom to the right-side of the house.
Currently, our upstairs bathroom is located in the middle of the top floor but, as we’ve divided the bedrooms into two, we now have a decent sized space, big enough for an upstairs bathroom with walk in shower though it currently looks like this!

There’s so much work to do in here to take it from what looks like a dark and dingy storage space and turn it into a light and spacious bathroom. This bathroom will only have a shower in it, our bath will be in our downstairs bathroom.
Inspiration

This photo has provided the biggest source of inspiration for the project. I love how this looks though we’re planning to do one big sink as opposed to two.
If possible, like the photo above, we’ll panel the wall halfway except within the shower space which will be tiled.
David is set on having a demister mirror though I’m yet to find one I like the look of! It may be that we get one then make our own custom wooden frame so that it looks more like a traditional mirror, such as above.
One thing I’ve learned from living in this house for a year is that you can never have enough storage, especially in the bathroom. Currently, both bathrooms have no storage furniture and both sinks are pedestal/wall-hung ones without the storage below them. This means we’re having to store cleaning items in the downstairs cupboard (which we’re planning to eventually knock out).
Hopefully, in our new bathroom, there’ll be plenty of storage for all our stuff; as well as having a vanity unit with drawers and a shelf, there’ll also be a half-wall-height shelf on one side of the bathroom and space around the sink for toiletries too. I don’t think you can ever underestimate how important storage space is!

There’s something about blue in a bathroom that I love and this room gives us the perfect opportunity to use Neptune’s ‘smoke’ paint which I’ve been wanting to use for a while now.

I’d never think to put a window seat in a bathroom but this space is so lovely and is a reminder that the room can be as pretty as it is functional!

Honeycomb marble floor tiles are on my wish list!
Our Plans
We’ve discussed the bathroom for months but how it would look in practice did make me a bit anxious. I’m thankful apps like Floorplanner exist which have given me a greater idea of what the room will look like when it’s complete (see below).

It’s not perfect; our windows won’t be like those above, nor will we have a double sink, but you can get a better understanding of what we’re hoping to achieve!
