House Update: May 2023

This month we spent a lot of time in the garden.

At last, the gravel where the hot tub was is gone, as are the stones which bordered the concrete slab. We’ve taken a lot back and have seeded it again so hopefully the grass grows through okay.

I also painted our old fence green which I love. Last year we painted it grey and not long after I felt it wasn’t the right colour but I wasn’t sure which colour to go for. Luckily the grey combined with the green paint has created the prettiest emerald green shade which I now need to copy on the new fence when we go to put that up!

Speaking of which, we started digging out the post holes for the new fence and put weed membrane and bark down where we removed the old shrubs. Hopefully this year we’ll plant some new hedges in the garden but at least this’ll help keep the weeds at bay. We also tidied up the front of the house which was overrun with them!

With all this work going on outside we’ve been busy thinking about how we’d like to fix/potentially remove the garage and shed and also what work we would need to do on the exterior. I have plans which would change the exterior drastically so we want to make sure we’re 100% onboard with the idea before going ahead with it.

And finally, I organised all our tools and materials, bringing them all into our back room (what will eventually become our office but for now is our storage room!).

And, right at the beginning of the month, we started to take the plaster off the sitting room walls.
