This month was all about windows! Prepping for them, getting them… they’re our biggest expense so far and have made the biggest difference to the house’s exterior.
Our previous windows were a mixture of original rotting timber windows and newer poorly fitted mahogany uPVC windows. They were drafty, impractical (with handles in all the wrong places) and just needed updating.
We’re over the moon with the new windows and doors. We’ve already had some really kind comments from people passing by too! While the fitters were installing the new windows, we also got our soffits and fascia’s replaced too so the roofline is all new and tidy.
Also this month, we finally got the pond out!

David and I drained the last bit of the pond then my dad and David lifted it out and removed all the rubble and concrete that was surrounding the pond area.
They’ve removed loads of it so far yet there’s still more to take out. It’s nice to see the garden starting to take more shape though and the ivy is almost all gone.
Our plans after the windows are fitted is to get started on the bedroom I think. There’s quite a lot of work to do in dividing the rooms and getting is ready for decorating but my hope is to have that room, plus the living room, done by Christmas.
Any other rooms we finish before then will be a bonus!
