House Update: May 2022

We’ve been in a bit of limbo this month.

Our new windows and doors get fitted early July and until then, there’s very few tasks we can do that make sense to do this side of the fitting.

Once they’re in, there’s plenty we need to get on with – the most exciting part is starting on the work upstairs.

This month, we did finally get around to filling in all the holes left over after the rewire. We (mostly David) worked on them most nights after work and with my dad’s help, we’ve started to skim the walls too. It’s likely we’ll get most of our walls replastered (the existing plaster work is shoddy) as we decorate each room and in some, we’re planning to completely replace the plasterboard anyway.

In the garden, we’re also stuck; the tadpoles have finally turned into little frogs and are starting to make their way out of the pond, albeit slowly. It’ll take a couple more weeks (I would think) before they’ve moved on or until we can start dismantling the pond.

The hot tub is still here, though I’m hoping for not much longer. It’s not doing any harm where it is but once the right-hand side of the garden (with the pond) is sorted, we need the hot tub gone so we can put up a new fence.

Lots of things to be waiting on but lots of plans ahead!
